The powerful STIHL 2-MIX engine in the STIHL MS 462 C-M R saw contributes to the tool’s impressive and excellent power-to-weight ratio. The chainsaw is equipped with STIHL M-Tronic fully electronic engine management for easy starting and optimum engine performance at all times. Other sophisticated features of this gas-driven chainsaw include:

Tool-free fuel caps that enable quick and easy filling of oil and gas.
Quick and easy chain replacement thanks to captive nuts on the sprocket cover.
When working in dusty conditions, the HD2 air filter with radial seal reliably protects the engine against fine dust and is easy to clean, for example using STIHL VarioClean. The combination of the HD2 air filter and a pre-separation routing system that also comes as standard on the MS 462 means you benefit from a long-life air filter system.

As an emergency services saw the STIHL MS 462 C-M R has special features including:

a large additional handle to make it easier to start when wearing gloves
a further handle for quick and easy cutting depth adjustment
a cutting depth limiter for controlled plunge cuts

Features

LARGE STARTER GRIP

EASY STARTING EVEN WHEN WEARING GLOVES. Start your chainsaw safely and easily with the large starter grip. It’s easy to use the grip even with bulky gloves on.

SIDE-MOUNTED CHAIN TENSIONING

FOR SIMPLE AND SECURE RE-TENSIONING. Side-mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.

STIHL ANTI-VIBRATION SYSTEM

Intense vibration at the handles of power tools can lead to longer-term effects of blood vessels in the hands and arms. STIHL have therefore developed an effective anti-vibration system where by the oscillations from the machines engine are dampened which significantly reduces vibrations at the handles.

CAPTIVE NUTS

PROTECTION AGAINST LOSS The nuts are attached to the sprocket cover in a captive manner. This makes it impossible for the nuts to fall off and get lost when the cover is removed.

MANUAL DECOMPRESSION

EFFORTLESS START-UP. The decompression valve makes it easier to start your power tool. When starting, you can allow some of the compressed mixture to escape from the cylinder by opening the valve. This protects the start-up system and reduces the amount of force required on the starter cord.

COMBI LEVER WITH STOP FUNCTION

SIMPLIFIED OPERATION. Only one start position is required on the combi lever. Thanks to the stop function, once the machine is turned off the control lever immediately moves back into the operating position. This allows a warm machine to be restarted immediately.

COMPENSATOR

REDUCED MAINTENANCE. The compensator is a control system in the carburettor, which uses pressure compensation to ensure that engine performance, exhaust gas quality and fuel consumption remain virtually constant over a long period of time, despite increasing contamination of the air filter. You do not need to clean the air filter until there is a noticeable drop in performance. This means that you can work for a long time without maintenance.

STIHL 2-MIX Engine

The STIHL 2-MIX engine is both powerful and economical. Separating the exhaust emissions from the unburnt gas minimises scavenging losses, and therefore increases the power output while reducing consumption.

The two-stroke engine with STIHL 2-MIX technology saves up to 20% of fuel and reduces emissions by up to 70% compared to STIHL 2-stroke engines of the same performance class without 2-MIX technology.

STIHL EMATIC SYSTEM

REDUCES OIL CONSUMPTION. The STIHL Ematic system comprises a STIHL Ematic or Ematic S guide bar, a STIHL Oilomatic saw chain and a controlled-delivery oil pump. It ensures that the chain oil gets to where it is needed for lubrication. This allows you to reduce oil consumption by up to 50%. If you often work in dusty conditions or if you use long guide bars, you can quickly and easily increase the oil quantity at any time with the new oil pump system.

STIHL M-TRONIC

RELIABLE WORK WITH BEST PERFORMANCE. With the STIHL M-Tronic, you have the best performance from your implement right from the start. The fully electronic engine management regulates the ignition point and fuel metering in every work situation, taking into account external conditions such as temperature, altitude and fuel quality.
