With the STIHL file gauge, you can keep an eye on angles and distances while sharpening your chainsaw. This helps you achieve an optimum sharpening result. The marked recesses enable you to precisely check the positioning and sharpening angles while adjusting the depth gauge height with the u-shaped end. You can also use the file gauge to check the tooth lengths of the chain.
At the opposite, pointed end of the filing gauge there is a dimensional scale which you can use to determine the groove depth of the guide bar accurate to the millimetre. In addition, the tip can be used to quickly and easily remove saw dust and deposits from the groove and oil entry holes in the guide bar.
